European Teachings & Empowerments 2008

Ven. Lopon P. Ogyan Tanzin Rinpoche will teach and give empowerments in the United Kingdom and Europe again in September to November 2008.

The Buddhist Society, 58 Eccleston Square, London SW1V 1PH (Tel 020 7834 5858)- Three weekly Seminars at 18:30 on 18th & 25th September and 2nd October 2008:
Nagarjuna's Letter to a Friend - Here is an opportunity to receive from a master the spacious depths of meaning contained in Nagarjuna’s classic summary of the foundations of both the Hinayana and the Mahayana vehicles. Rinpoche invites lively discussion of the practicalities of weaving these views and practices into busy modern lives.

Nagarjuna’s Letter was written principally for laymen, particularly King Gautamiputra. It offers particularly accessible explanations and injunctions for conduct on the mahayana path as well as practices and exercises to counteract our negative tendencies.

Nagarjuna was born around the first century CE, and is considered a principal exponent of Madhyamika philosophy. He was a master dialectician and also produced major explications of Vinaya, Bodhicitta, Tantra and the practice of Aparamita.

Empowerment, Teachings and Practice of Vajrakila -
Vajrakila embodies the enlightened activity of the buddhas manifesting in a wrathful, yet compassionate form. He subdues delusions and negativities that arise as obstacles to dharma practice and purifies spiritual pollution. All the great Nyingma masters have practiced Vajrakila's method of accomplishment from Padmasambhava onwards to the present day . Rinpoche will give the empowerment in the lineage of the great contemporary lama Dudjom Rinpoche, the Dudjom Tersar.

Friday will be a day of preparing for the empowerment and all are welcome to come along to make the tormas and complete all the other necessary preparations for Rinpoche to give the empowerment on Saturday. Saturday will consist of the empowerment with teachings on the practice and practice itself during the remaining time on Saturday and Sunday.
